Would you consider yourself a reader?

I never thought I was, until I found books that feed my soul and inspire me!

If you want to grow and learn more about yourself, invest in more books and audiobooks. These are great ways to uplevel and get your creative juices flowing.

I always have several books going at a time, and alternate between listening to audiobooks or music, depending on the mood. If I’m having a not so great day, an inspirational audiobook can really lighten me up and get me into a more grateful mindset.

This year, I had some books that really stood out to me that I just have to share with you guys. And there’s still time to get them as a gift for yourself or someone else during the holidays!

And if you don’t have a book on hand when you travel, one of these I’m about to share is perfect for that long-haul flight!

I’ve read way more than these 3 books this year, but these are my top 3 picks of 2018…

1. The Artist’s Journey: The Wake of the Hero’s Journey and the Lifelong Pursuit of Meaning by Steven Pressfield

THIS is my #1 pick of the year!

The Artist’s Journey had every cell in my body alive and dancing.

I sat down on a Friday evening and finished the ENTIRE book! Now, I’ll admit, it’s a bit of an easy read, but I’m more of an audiobook listener than a reader, and I read the heck out of this book.

The Artist’s Way starts out talking about the Hero’s journey and how we all have one, or many in our lifetime. “The primary hero’s journey is the passage we live out, in real life, before we find our calling.”

The hero’s journey ends when we return home, to the place from which we started. I can absolutely relate to this.

What comes next is The Artist’s Journey. This is the part that captivated me!

“On our artist’s journey, we move past resistance and past self-sabotage. We discover our true selves and our authentic calling, and we produce the works we were born to create.”

On the back cover, Steven writes “You are an artist too—whether you realize it or not, whether you like it or not—and you have an artist’s journey. Will you live it out? Will you follow your Muse and do the work you were born to do? Ready or not, you are called.”

“Ready or not, you are called.”

Ahhh, just writing this gives me chills. SUCH good content, a total game-changer.

I felt validated reading this book. I felt like someone just understood the creative part of my soul in a way no one else could. I felt SEEN and I felt empowered!

This book is less than $15 on Amazon, so definitely check it out!

2. You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth by Jen Sincero

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of You Are a Badass®, Jen Sincero’s latest book, You are a Badass at Making Money, is a life-changing guide to making the kind of money you’ve only ever dreamed of.

I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve read through this book, taken journals full of notes and listened to it on repeat on Audible. This book is really shifting my money mindset and turning dreams into more of a reality. I’m super grateful this book came into my life when it did.

Jen is great at giving you homework and exercises that really make you turn inward and look at the programs running in your subconscious around money and wealth.

Money is something most of us feel uncomfortable on some level talking about, unless it’s to commiserate with our friends about how much we don’t have. Jen will shift that attitude straight away! She’s so good at showcasing how financial abundance really is an inside job.

“You Are a Badass at Making Money will launch you past the fears and stumbling blocks that have kept financial success beyond your reach. Drawing on her own transformation—over just a few years—from a woman living in a converted garage with tumbleweeds blowing through her bank account to a woman who travels the world in style, Jen Sincero channels the inimitable sass and practicality that made You Are a Badass an indomitable bestseller. She combines hilarious personal essays with bite-size, aha concepts that unlock earning potential and get real results.”

You are a Badass at Making Money is on sale on Amazon right now! If you are someone you know is searching for more abundance and money manifestation, this is the book for you!

3. Rise Sister Rise by Rebecca Campbell

Rise Sister Rise is another book I have on Audible and have listened to over and over. Rebecca’s voice and wisdom gives me a sense of belonging and empowerment. This book has been very transformative for me and how I relate with the women in my circle.

If you are curious about the rise of the feminine happening in our world right now, this is a must-read! Rebecca will take you on a pilgrimage back to yourself glorious, goddess self!

“Rise Sister Rise is for the women who agreed at soul level to be here at this stage in history to lead this global shift that the mystics of all of the ages have predicted: the return of the mother and the rise of the feminine. It is essentially a call to arms for women to rise up, tell their truth, and lead. Most women have spent much of their working lives “making it” in a man’s world, leaning on patriarchal methods of survival in order to succeed, dulling down their intuition, and ignoring the fierce power of their feminine. They have ignored the cycles of the feminine in order to survive in a patriarchal linear system – but now the world has changed. Rise Sister Rise is a transmission that calls the innate feminine wisdom to rise. It is about healing the insecurities, the fears, and the inherited patterns that stop women trusting the Shakti (power) and wisdom (intuition) that effortlessly flows through them. It’s about recognizing all of the ways we have been keeping ourselves contained and restrained in effort to fit into a certain archetype of woman. It’s about co-creating a whole new archetype of woman – a woman who does not keep herself small in order to make others feel more comfortable. A woman who knows like she knows like she knows that she is not her body weight, her sexual partners, or her career. A woman who deeply respects the wise woman in her life and cultivates her own wisdom every single day. Full of tools, calls to action, contemplative questions, rituals, and confrontational exercises, this book teaches women that it is safe to let Shakti rise, safe to trust their intuition, and safe to take leaps of faith – because in healing ourselves we are healing the world.”

Rise Sister Rise is also on sale on Amazon right now! This would be great for a women’s circle discussion or book club too!

I also have Rebecca’s Oracle Cards called Work Your Light Oracle Cards. The images are beautiful and light, and it’s my most coveted card deck.

If you’ve read any of these books, let me know in the comments what you thought of them, or come back after you’ve read them and fill me in!

Lastly, the book I’ve just started and am ending the year on is Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead: Brave work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts. You can read more on that here.
